THE HISTORY OF WHITE STONE

White Stone has impacted more 60 communities across Canada; the evaluations continue to indicate that:

  • Participants experience many personal gains including increased confidence, improved presentation skills and increased knowledge with respect to suicide
  • White Stone enhances community awareness around suicide and in some communities has became part of a larger suicide prevention strategy
  • Mentors report a benefit professionally to their involvement and find their role critical to the process and implementation of White Stone
  • Community participants benefit and appreciate the opportunity to openly discuss suicide

A participant from Westbank best summed up the White Stone experience by offering these words: "This week has changed my life, not only do I want to embrace life but I have clear purpose in helping others to grow old as well"

White Stone has visited many communities all across Canada, and to date has been presented to over 400 youth.
